SUMMER HOLIDAY EDITION 11th  AUGUST 2008
Midge’s Bit
A Labrador has a real howl
One black dog who is on the scent of some really bad angling practices!

This dreadful pile of rubbish is the “stuff” we collected from the “swim “opposite our house this morning. How can they do this to our lovely river? What about all the other creatures that share the water? Do these people not care? Are they so stupid that they just
leave behind this trail of garbage? Caring so little, that they can just walk away?
Look...I know I am just a labrador, but I do have some sense...not much... but clearly a darn sight more than the people that left this pile. And they know who they are and you better believe we are watching out for you next time. By the way, a dog can be worse than its bark... a great deal worse!

BUT IT’S NOT ALL BAD NEWS...........

The meadows have been full recently of brown fluttery things - butterflies he calls them - I have to be honest I never knew butter could fly - unless some one gets really upset!
These fluttery things he calls Small Browns and Meadow Browns; he has also seen a good amount of other buttery things called Green Veined Whites, large whites and an increasing number of Peacock’s - and there I was thinking that was a bird!
He says, to look out for Red Admirals - they like nettles; good job too, there’s enough of them! I like the
speckled brown jobs that I see near woodlands, he calls a Speckled Wall butterfly - but then he would, wouldn’t he?
