My Autumn: Riders of the storms

With a pretty abrupt end to the summer heat and the stupefying, river shrinking, lack of rain; we now, finally,  have a hint of autumn…

A Blood moon bringing with it,  the promise of low pressure, dropping temperatures and much needed rain…and the odd bit of wind.

Now is the time for the alternate fly fisher… the Pike fly fishers will start to get restless  and, a personal favourite – the Grayling.

How I love fishing for these  blithe spirited fish…light on the fin, deft through the water, elegant, fussy , contrary, delicately coloured and contoured…what is there not to like.

Here, to summon in one of my very favourite times of year pursuing a species to be admired,  is a short film which I did with Farlows a few years ago….

I rather like it – not my bit, naturally, as ham fisted as ever…

But Jonny Muir – the man behind the camera - has absolutely captured the essence of a chill day, amid the autumnal  Hampshire countryside…magically.

I so hope you like it, too.
